ESPRiT News: Stabilization of Integrated Contract Management Systems at Hanover Re 
 

Hanover Re, a subsidiary of the Talanx Group, has been able to establish itself as one of the world’s leading reinsurance groups by maintaining above-average levels of profitability, sustainable organic growth, and an excellent combined ratio right across the sector. It focuses on two strategic business lines: Reinsurance against loss or damage and reinsurance of persons. Within these business lines, Hanover Re has proven itself as a multi-specialist.

ESPRiT Consulting supported Hanover Re with the line responsibility in the project re7 for stabilization during the handover of the new contract management system with the SAP components SAP FS-RI and FS-CD. In order to support the line organization in its tasks and make available the necessary experienced specialists, the re7 project had 4 significant goals:

  • Business continuity – “do the right things”: ensuring functional continuity and correctness of activities and outcomes
  • Defect resolution / Performance optimization – “clean up”: correcting defects and optimizing performance
  • Support organization – “do things right”: promoting the support organization
  • Migration factory – “industrialize the rollout”: preparing and automating the local office migration

After a successful go-live, the follow-up stabilization project led to successful completion of the 3rd quarter closing 2008, the year-end closing 2008 and the renewal round 2008/2009, laying the foundations for further consistent and ordered work with the new re7 landscape. This includes not just the establishment of the necessary processes, but also a transfer of responsibility to the organization in the home office. The number of errors resulting from the activation of the system could be reduced significantly. Any obstacles (functions / data) standing in the way of the renewal and the closing were removed.

ESPRiT Consulting’s deployment in the project ranged from externally filling the dual leadership positions for the project management to test management support, and then on to the set-up of an overall support center, including definition of all the necessary procedures and processes.
